SEATTLE - Sally Narodick has been elected to the board of directors of the Washington Research Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization. WRF helps Washington state research institutions acquire value from emerging technologies through intellectual property management and start-up investment activities.
Narodick is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of Edmark Corporation and Apex Learning, Inc. Edmark was one of the leading developers and publishers of early childhood education software until its sale to IBM in 1996. After the sale she consulted with IBM and other institutional clients.
In 1998 she was recruited to become the chief executive officer of Apex Learning, an educational project to deliver advanced courses to high school students online. During her two-year tenure, she oversaw the building of a management team, development of the initial suite of products and the raising of $40 million in venture capital.
Earlier in her career, Narodick served 14 years with Seafirst Corp. (now Bank of America) in several financial management capacities. She has a bachelor of arts from Boston University, a master of arts in teaching from Columbia Teachers College and a master’s in business administration from New York University.
Narodick serves on the boards of Puget Sound Energy, Penford Corporation, Solutia and Click2Learn. She is a trustee of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and the Kline Galland Center.
WRF is a 25-year-old independent nonprofit foundation that captures and enhances the value of intellectual property arising from Washington state research institutions to support research and scholarship.
